i agree with the sentiment, but that was just suppressive fire while they got the hell out of dodge. The gunner isn't on his crew-served weapon, and he isn't even aiming.
Did the sniper live? Most likely yes. Unfortunately.

Well, I don't remember exactly how it worked, but when I was at Mojave Viper last, they demonstrated it on us. It hurt like a sonofabitch. It felt like I was on fire, but stopped as son as I got out of the beam. It looked like a big satellite dish with a flat, protective covering on the front.
Is it in use in-country? I've never seen one; but if it is, I'd expect the Army to field it first. Those bastards have the deepest pockets.

It's an M4 carbine with an M203 grenade launcher. It's got a PEQ 2 IR laser on the right side and a holosight.
