A firearm is an equalizer of strength. If the man in the video had a pistol, he would have the same strength or more than the "thugs". Even if the other guys had guns, they would at least be playing on an even field.

Oh yeah, are you saying that the only thing stopping the thugs from killing that guy is because they didn't have a gun? A knife won't kill somebody? Repeated kicks to the head won't kill somebody? You live in a fantasy land if you believe that. As the old addage state, "Guns don't kill people. People kill people."

Here's my solution that doesn't involve handing out guns to anyone who wants one.
Concentrate on the economy... Focus on trying to abolish unemployment and increasing wages while keeping inflation low. Get a good welfare system, keep guys like these off the streets and give them something to work for.
