High speed chases are fashionable, but they still pose a huge risk to bystanders- even with that though, cops are able to get the guy out of the car and onto the ground, because the crazy fuck isn't usually that crazy.
Trapped though, this guy didn't surrender- he was like a rattlesnake in a corner. Or a... whatever the British equivalent is... in a loo. Point is he was that crazy, and he was making overtures to the cops with his car, and not his uppraised hands. He was a huge threat.

At the vid. It didn't look like he was trying to hit the cops. However to the officer standing behind the vehicle It probably did. My guess is that he was the first to fire. After that everyone does. I know I would of. I don't fault the cops in this one either. More time and finesse probably would of done the trick but when you act crazy shit gets crazy.

It wouldn't have been a self-defense shooting had it not been for that idiot cop standing right in the middle of the parking spot at the end of the clip. They had him completely boxed in, but that one cop, being in the wrong place was in danger when suspect drove at the wall.

It's amazing how so many people don't consider a vehicle to be a weapon. The guy was ramming the cars with his vehicle, and obviously had no intention of ending it peacefully. He chose to run from the police, and then he chose to use his vehicle as a weapon when he was cornered. This isn't a tragic. It's some dumb ass who had to deal with the choices he made.

It seems that every time a "like" video is posted, the cop haters come crawling out of the woodwork - regarding this particular video; it may have started out as crime of speeding but from my vantage point, it could have easily become a vehicular homicide. It was, in my opinion, a situation of kill or be killed. - Until you put your life on the line like police officers do on a daily basis, you can only presume to know what you would have done in certain situations - At this point, you really can't be 100% sure how you would respond as a police officer under similar dire circumstances - can you.

I'm a law and order kind of guy, but he certainly did not look like he wanted to run them over from what I saw. I saw acceleration followed by then obviously tenative behavior. Braking and reversing. The most dangerous part for the officers was when the other cop car rammed his car almost into a officer standing nearby.
I'm not saying he should have won his wrongful death suit. No Officer should be fired, suspended, or otherwise punished for this. However I do think this instance should be taught in Police Academy's as an example of when perhaps a suspects actions do not deserve deadly force. If he was armed, different story. back_attack, think about this. As an officer you have to treat everyone as a threat until you can otherwise determine they are not. So you have a guy in a car running from the police, this signifies he has done something illegal or has been involved with something illegal, the cops chasing have no idea why he is running and can't stop him to find out why. The cops corner him and he still tries to plow thru cars and what appears to me he almost hits a few officers while trying to flee. So if your a cop on the scene and one of your fellow officers are about to be ran over would you think about the idiot in the car and how you can stop him without hurting him (when he is clearly thinking of everyone else's safety) or are you going to open fire (as a last resort as it was in this instance) to save the life of your fellow officer. And 4 cops fired 30 shots not just one cop, so it is understandable that 30 shots were fired as 4 cops firing simultaniously would get off that many shots before realizing it. Also have to add that your average cop is not a crack shot and you can tell if you miss someone or hit them, so out of the 30 shots fired how many of them hit their intended target? Don't trash people unless you yourself has been in a situation like that and can realize what it takes to make that type of decision on the fly. And before you make any trash talking I have been in that situation and I have been shot in the line of duty. So I understand the reality of that situation, in my opinion they made the right call.

So yeah, 30 rounds, but that's not that many at all considering that their lives were in danger..What other options do you see those officers as having? THe last time I got pulled over by a cop (for having a slightly expired temporary license plate on a new vehicle, omg im a criminal!!!!111) I said absolutely nothing. He finally said the "Tag" was expired and I said "really? thats interesting" and he got so flustered he eventually let me go scott free. That and I had cleverlly pulled into a McDonalds parking lot and we were in the way (always be in full public view when stopped by a cop, even if you have to drive a bit to get somewhere public).
