The other day I was pulled over because the dealership installed license plate bracket covered the first letter of wisconsin. My drivers license was in the trunk which then gave the cop an excuse to search it puling everything out. I was on a camping trip so I had a ton of stuff in my car. And told the officer that I didnt think it made sense to set all of my stuff on the side of the road. He said well if you have nothing to hide then you shouldn't worry.
Wel I think the same damn thing can be applied to the cop in this video. If he and his colleagues ar doing their job the way they are supposed to they should want to be filmed as an example for other officers. Second you don't interfere with an investigation. 3rd he doesn't have to give his identity to anyone thats not involved in the situation, so he can end up on the fuckin news. What the police officer just did there is assault and battery, both are torts that can be charged in a court of law. That cameraman can and should press charges against that police officer and have him removed from duty.
The whole point of a police officer is to keep the peace and 'to protect and to serve'. Use of excessive force is reserved for criminals. Not annoying cameramen. No matter how ANNOYING a camera man might be, it's never okay to lose your composure like that when you are in a position of power. It makes you look stupid, and just provokes more flame and criticism.

I’m a cop myself and see this kind of shit all the time. There is no reason why that officer should have approached the camera holder that way. If anything the officer should have informed the camera holder that he was too close to a crime scene and that he must move his vehicle at once.
Second of all they do look pretty far away from the crime scene and no one really knows why the guy was taping in the first place. He could have just witness the police do something unlawful which isn’t uncommon.

If the cop wanted to cameraman to stop, he should have said something, instead of circling him to take him down.

Just like when a cop pulls you over, the 1st thing he say is "the reason why i pulled you over is.......", or "please put your camera down cause you're ........". Or "you need to leave this area immediately cause its a crime scene......".

In the US, the press, like any other citizen, has the right to film any fucking thing they want, from any location, as long as they don't physically block anyone's movement or trespass on private property.
The fact that reporters will gather in a special "press zone" is a COURTESY the press grants to the police, under the assumption that the police just want room to work.
When a reporter arrives, or asks where the "press zone" is, the police need to be VERY POLITE when they respond, in order to maintain civil cooperation.
