In the sandlands, this is not all that weird. It's common knowledge that when you hit a camel it's legs are bound to break at the bumper and the entire weight of it's body will smash through the windshield, most-likely killing the driver & any front seat passenger. They actually have "camel warning" road signs on most desert roads. What's bizarre about these accidents, is the fine that comes with killing a camel. In the UAE (and I'd assume most other desert countries) the fine for killing a camel like this is more than $100,000.
