All she had to do to stop being choked was stop leaning forward trying to harm the officers who were just trying to help her by putting her in mechanical restraints so she doesnt hurt hurself. If she managed to get out of the chair they did something, or failed to do something, DRAMATICALLY WRONG - the chair is fail safe if administered properly, or anywhere close to proper.
In my astute (did i spell that right?) opinion - for what its worth - the problem with the neck injuries, seen quite often, is a result of poor engineering - the back of the chair is too low, therby allowing for the neck to be bent over backward, over the chair back, thereby allowing for extreme hyperextension of the neck, resulting in broken necks, choking, etc. I would think by now the manufacturers would have changed that, maybe recalled the old models with the low chairback, and helped minimize the potential for future unfortunate incidents, deaths, law sauits, ectc.

i work for loss prevention for a major retail store and it can get pretty crazy with people who are just not ready to go to jail. we had a couple of meeting where they showed us video on shoplifters who actually got chocked out and died. the way i always did it is if i cant et them restrained in 60 secs, is just let them go and let the police worry about it. cause the last thing i wanna see is someone die over some shit i dont even own! Unfortunately, people have been killed, and in my humble opinion, murdered at the hands of the MCSO. There are hundreds of reasons to be a cop, playing God should not be one of them. But take some comfort knowing the handling of people in custody are treated much more carefully. some more careful knowing the camera's rolling.Something to think about.
