It's not his fault that the roads there were poorly constructed and there isn't much room to conduct traffic stops. Why don't we look at the jack ass who felt it was too much trouble to change lanes and give him room to work. Law enforcement can't simply stop taking enforcement action because of dangerous situations, if that were the case, nothing would ever be done. And yes, I'm sure that if the cop didn't make the traffic stop and this video was the aftermath of driver killing someone else because of his driving behavior, your comments would want to know why "the cops" didn't take him off the road. Damn double standards...don't judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

Such hostility, it truely is sad. I will, however concede that the location of the stop wasn't the safest place in the world and he may have done better choosing a more suitable location to make the stop, but do you expect him to simply stop doing his job? And contrary to popular belief, there are very few agencies left that actually have quotas when it comes to writing tickets. I will also agree that making traffic stops on the interstate is not the safest thing in the world, but luckily for you there are people out there willing to risk their safety to do just that. Believe it or not, the thought of getting speeding tickets actually makes most drivers slow down, thereby keeping you and your family safer as you teavel the roads. I am not saying the cop has no responsibility in this, as he could have chosen a better location, I am simply saying that the driver of the passing car could have had some common courtesy and moved over so as to help keep everyone safe.
As far as the fuck you filled comment, grow up. Read peoples comments and agree or disagree, I don't care which you do, but you should not take it personal and attack those who leave the comments.

lak9cop - lighten up a bit mate - most guys here are just tryin to be a little funny - HOWEVER- the cop does bear a bit of the responsibility here - there was plenty of room on the opposite side of the car, or, he could have instructed the driver to pull over more to the right and placed his cruiser in position to block such an incident - its called "preventative measures" and "common sense", both of which are very important when performing hazardous duties.

I agree completely that the cop does bear some responsibility here. He could have chosen a better location, parked his car in a better position, and possibly a host of other actions to help prevent this, but in addition to him taking the added measures I would like to see the general public use some common sense as well and simply move over when they are approaching a cop or anyone else on the shoulder of the road. It is simple things like this that will help to keep us all just a bit more safe. Cheers

in the academy, one is trained to approach the vehicle on its right (non-driver) side when there are less than three lanes. this cop did not follow procedure that is standard in all continental u.s. states.

well I expect no less from the public when it comes to something like this. sometimes as law enforcement we must wonder why we do what we do. why do we bother to protect, well I can think of nothing better than to call them a group of "little bitches" that under the anonymous area of the internet publish things that they would never have the balls to say to a cop in front of his face.
reminds me of a joke where the cop pulls over the car and as he walks up to the window, smacks the driver in the face for not having his license ready, then after issuing the ticket walks around to the passenger side and smacks the passenger. when the passenger asks why he did that he replies "just making your wish come true" when asked what he means he says "I know if I didnt do this you would have said I wish he would have tried that shit with me" but of course after he got a few miles down the road.

I agree that there are some "rabid cop haters" here and if you took a harder look at each one of them, you'd probably understand why. I, for one, am not one...While I understand some people have legitimate complaints about police officers, I can't say I've ever had a problem with one. I have always believed that if you are respectful and have a good attitude toward the officer, there is a very good chance that you will be treated in the same manner...I've seen officers exercise great restraint and patience while dealing with people...it made me realize that I could never be a police officer cos patience is not really my virtue. I'd want to shoot some mouthy drunken derelict where he stood.
