Although I am white, I still cringe when I see the racist things that are done by my race, and it is refreshing to hear that some blacks don't constantly blame the white man for all their ills...the kids today must make Dr.MLK turn over in his grave..they have NO idea of the struggles just 50 years ago that the black man had to endure to be treated fairly, as an equal in the U.S. It is ancient history to a "me right now" generation of kids...both black and white. I guess my final points are that black people can blame AMERICAN white people a good amount for what's happening to them, but they can do it less and less as time goes on. Slavery has been traced back to the 1400's and began from Dutch sailors bringing back slaves that were sold by African tribal chieftains for their own profit., so please keep in mind that the first two to "get in bed together" so to speak, were whites AND blacks . Another excellent book is by Basil Davidson's "African Slave Trade"...which chronicles from 1411 how the Portuguese brought slaves to Europe..these slaves were treated a LOT better than those that were brought to the U.S in the 1600's.The European slaves could earn their freedom after a period of time and could marry, have families and even own property...the average black person in the states today couldn't walk a mile in their forefathers foot steps..those Africans were REAL men

Diamonds come from all parts of the world. Russia supposedly, has the some of world's largest diamond reserves. There are apparently, huge underground vaults filled with diamonds. John Stossel did a show on it with 20/20 years ago. He was pulling out trays filled with diamonds of all sizes. You could have poured them out onto the floor and it would have just looked like rocks and pebbles covering the beach. It's land is much like the Canadian tundra - where diamonds are plentiful. De Beers is, essentially, a clearing house for diamond exchange. Unless it's specified, you'll never know if you're purchasing a conflict diamond.
