This is to MLB at 2:50pm. I have a little brother this age too and after watching that I'm also heading tonight to give my little brother a big hug. How could anyone do this to a kid? How sad. One of my co-workers showed us this video and everyone is upset by what they saw. Some of you here on the site say that the boy was talking back but honestly I didn't really hear him say all that much. The cop was looking for trouble and it seemed he had his eye on this particular boy from the very beginning. My concern is that the police officer kept asking for the boys address. Is that legal? I would be concerned if I were his parent especially since he was suspended. I just don't trust someone like that. I hope the boy has a loving and caring family. Awwh, I just feel so bad after seeing him being treated like that. This cop is a pervert. There was a cop in the town I grew up in who use to do the same thing. Argue with teenage boys over nothing so that he could get physical with them. They were breaking the law by riding their skateboards in a prohibited area and the kid only got handled because he resisted the officer when he tried to confiscate the skateboard.
And no, this is not "normal behaviour", his friends showed "normal behaviour" i.e they shut up and listened to the cop after they were caught BREAKING THE LAW. Only the kid with no respect landed in trouble. If he had shown the officer respect after having been caught BREAKING THE LAW, instead of running his mouth off and showing disrespect then he would've been free and on his way in under a minute.

The remark is simply that although the officer obviously overreacted some of the same overactions are occuring here by people saying they would find the officer and kill him and his family, etc. Simply put, yes the officer overreacted, but some of the ignorant responses to the video do just the same. How can you bash someone for their actions when you say you would do something worse in response. If you re-read the comment you will also see that in no way were the officers actions condoned, nor was the right for law enforcement officers to abuse their power even mentioned. It is a gross misconduct and should be dealt with accordingly, not resorting to killing anyone or their families, as some of the comments suggest. No one should abuse any power entrusted to them, law enofrcement or otherwise! You also suggest moving to a third world country, I will reply by saying emphatically NO...However, you may want to take a minute to analyze peoples comments and view them as they are wirtten and for their true meaning, not what you perceive them to mean. A veteran Baltimore police officer was suspended after a video appeared on YouTube showing him manhandling a 14-year-old skateboarder.
The video, which was reportedly shot during the summer and just recently appeared on YouTube, begins with Officer Salvatore Rivieri approaching a group of teens on skateboards.

On the video, Bush is seen referring to Rivieri as "dude," and the officer responds with force, shoving Bush to the ground.
"I was scared. I didn't know if he was going to punch me," said Bush.
He wasn't scared speechless though, as Bush continued to refer to Rivieri as "dude."
"I didn't do anything dude," Bush says again on the video, this time inciting a rant from Rivieri.
"Obviously your parents don't put your foot in your butt quite enough, because you don't understand the meaning of the word respect. You better learn how to speak. I'm not 'man,' I'm not 'dude.' I am Officer Rivieri!" he shouts.
Reactions
"I was very upset," Bush's mother, Peggy Miller, said of watching the video.
Although skateboarding in the area wasn't allowed, she says the officer was out of line. "If I were to go to my job and I were to get upset with someone who called me dude three times and tackled [them], I'd be terminated immediately."
The Baltimore Police Department partially agreed. Rivieri, who has no complaints on his record, was suspended with pay.

They were breaking the law by riding their skateboards in a prohibited area and the kid only got handled because he resisted the officer when he tried to confiscate the skateboard.And no, this is not "normal behaviour", his friends showed "normal behaviour" i.e they shut up and listened to the cop after they were caught BREAKING THE LAW. Only the kid with no respect landed in trouble. Now I'm normally all for the cops. I have tremendous respect for them and the things they go through just doing their job. But this was way outta line, and he knew it which is why he was suddenly interested in the camera! That is not the way to gain respect from kids
What you saw in this video was a FOURTEEN year old boy being a fourteen year old boy. He's no 'street hooligan' he is probably from a middle-socioeconomic household and is being reasonably educated. I can understand peoples perceptions that the boy was being a 'smart arse'. Yet a lot of kids that ages say 'dude' and 'man', I think its just not in the same frame of reference the Police officer understands. The officer seems to interpret the use of such language as disrespectful.
Since when does a Police Officer deserve the same level of respect as a father?
I have an empathetic understanding of the frustrating and difficult job Police Officers have. Sometimes the job can be mentally tough added together with other life stressors like family and finances people can 'snap'. Yet in the objective role of enforcing the laws of the land no matter how much empathy we may have for Officer Salvatore Rivieri his behavior is not justified.
Officer Rivieri's actions were thuggish and bullying. I would go as far as saying this sort of action in this context is physical and verbal abuse of a minor.
Next time you see Officer Salvatore Rivieri make sure to yell out 'don't taze me officer dude man!'.
