Hi dude, I don't know how Scott got that info, but he's right. That happened in Sao Paulo, Brazil and the poor guy died in hospital 3 or 4 days later.

It's been proven cell phones don't cause fires at gas pumps. You need to ground yourself (touch something metal away from pump) before touching gas pump. His truck may not have been grounded either. If you hold the pump away from touching the filler neck, the fuel flow can build up static and jump to the filler neck, igniting the fumes.

Its more likely that vapour escaped when the guy opened the lid of the tank.
The vapour was ignited by the stations illumination under the roof (TL starters).
Filling points for fuelstations are normally never situated under the roof!

No you are all wrong. The russian guy used a lighter to check the fuel level in the tank (yes very dumb) and that caused the explosion. The balls rolling around are from the pumps.You can see him reach into his pocket and pull out the lighter right before the explosion. The russian guy was killed also.
