It's all about timing.Because the emergency services got there AFTER he jumped, they're his eternal heroes.If they'd got there BEFORE, and tried to stop him, they'd have been Establishment robots stifling his anarchic creativity.
If I had been the dispatcher I would have said " you got yourself into that, so you can get yourself out of it " - he'd still be up there now with the crows feasting on his eyeballs
