I'm guessing they had already found the command wire and clipped it so thought it was safe,Bugger about the boobytrap that was set under it.
In the long version of this vid you see its very close to a house so maybe thats why they didn't want to blow it,Also in the full version you see a guy at the start trying to wedge it out with his AK barrel,I had to laugh.

The only possible reason I can think of for trying to defuse an IED was if it was planted near your home or business and detonating it in place would destroy them. And that's not much of a fucking reason, you don't need a house or a job if you are spread all over Bakkalakkadakka Street in 50 million pieces. Fuck

Goes to show you not everyone over there are radical assholes, they could have easily left it there and let some convoy roll right over it, many mothers, fathers, sister, and brothers should be giving thanks for the efforts these guys gave, they possibly saved not only Americans lives but other countries enlisted men as well and traded their own in doing so.

The Iraqis often try to disarm IEDs without any safety devices or security. They often succeed, but sometimes they don't. I guess they just roll the dice each time. If there is an anti-handling device on the IED, they're usually killed.
