I read this happened at a zoo. The chimp fell off a rock into the pond and a zoo visitor jumped in to save it. Chimps can't swim -- their body fat to muscle ratio isn't high enough and they sink like rocks. This guy might have known that, or just reacted to the sight of the chimp obviously in distress in the water.

This wouldnt happen if they would let us feed the animals at the zoo. Fast food can save your life. Oh god I think IM have a heart attack, Some one give me a milkshake.

The pond was probably a "moat" around the animal's enclosure, so-called "fenceless cages".

Does anyone know the outcome of this? It looked like that guy was worn plumb out and had a hard time getting the chimp onto the bank. Plus, that dude was beefy....thickly muscled, and he was still having a hell of a time with this monkey. Chimps can weigh around 150-200 lbs if they are on the large size and this one looked big and heavy. Props for that dude....that took some real guts.

Thats a good guy, even the little ones are strong as hell and that one was pretty big, one knock from it would have sent the guy down himself.

Monkies can swim, this one probally got it's feet tangled in weed on the bottom. I used to work as a gardener and we had a lake to maintain as part of our job description for a big manor house and we'd pull out masses of lake weed and it would weigh so much! If you got tangled up in it, you'd drown for sure. That's why little kids drown in ponds. It's not the depth or the water temperature - it's the weeds.

OUR cousins the Chimpanzees are scared to death of water...That was a very brave a great thing that man did for that beautiful creature..
