In my humble opinion, I believe it all revolves around power. Some of the Islamic leaders are hell bent on grabbing as much power and teritory as possible, while the oportunity exists, in this unstable region.
It is a legacy of the collapsed regime which has opened up a vacuum.
There is no quick fix for this. All we can do is continue to try and police the situation and let time and the local population find level and common ground.
