For ONCE, I have to side with the skater. At the very beginning (first couple of seconds) you could see the old guy trying to knock him off his board. The guy (the skater at the beginning) had every right in the world to slug him a good one, but didn't. It's remarkable, even, that he kept his cool as well as he did, I'm not sure I would have been able to. It says alot about him as a person, and proves not all skaters are punks.

Why do old people have such a downer on skaters? Its the same in our town,Wakefield,UK, all the old folks moan about some young guys enjoying themselves and using all the bloody concrete sprawl to enjoy themselves. The squirting thing was a bit much, though.

It seems to me that if I had a problem with skaters every day, then I would just call the cops every day. The cops would get so tired of coming to the same place for the same thing, they would just make the skater's lives miserable and the skaters would go someplace else.

Why don't skaters just pool their money together and build a skate park with all the cool amenities. They could have a spinal detachment rail, a wrong-way elbow ramp, and some broken cervical tubes. And they could equip them all with video cameras so they can show their families how they ended up in traction and on life support.

for a brief instant, the black skater reminded me of tiger woods explaing how he missed the birdie on the 18th hole. I think I might have been a little more pissed off if some GERYATRIC tried to punch me in the grill as i was about to take a skateboard of a "sweet jump".

As someone above said, that old guy is lucky these kids had some self control and didn't go as far as to fuck his world up. I know of a few kids that would love some old guy to come up and attempt to shove them off their boards while they are skating just so they could punch or hit with their board right in the head. These kids had more sense than that however. I loved how the old guy walked away with his tail between his legs after he realized he is simply being an sad old fat grump dipshit..

@catfish: If you knew anything, youd know that there is a large number of skaters who are over 18 and take the hobby pretty seriously. It takes quite a bit of initiative to get you ass off the couch to go outside and do something, especially something that will leave you sore as shit at the end of the day. What do you suggest kids with the personality types skaters often have do? Stay inside, play video games and do nothing? It sound to me like you have some chip on your shoulder. You must have been beat up a lot in high school or something.

I'm not defending all skaters, I am just against ignorant people making blanket statements because they hold some grudge in their own lives..

A great deal of the skater community does not have respect for the property that they cause damage too... This has been discussed completely in other videos... I am not saying "All" Skaters, just it appears a great deal.

@Gildorg: I have the utmost respect for you as a fellow brother in arms (retired or not) and i can forgive you for choosing the Navy ( ) but I've got to tell you, the idea of kids pooling their money together to chip in for a skate park unrealistic in most places.

The bureaucracy of town and city counsels and the widespread belief that all skaters are just a bunch of punks makes it unrealistic to establish a suitable skate park in most cities and towns.

Suitable Skate parks are very expensive, and need a pretty large lot to build on.

They managed to get one built in my hometown of Syracuse. But that still doesn't stop skaters from going to traditional skate spots. If anyone here is a skater or a fan, you will know Syracuse because a lot of pros will go there to skate for videos.

The fact of the matter is, if people show respect, they will get it. Any time an older person was an asshole to me back in the day, telling me to fuck off while friends and I were skating, we were equally disrespectful back. When they requested us to leave in a respectful way, we would appreciate the respect and leave.

and you'll be hard pressed to find any "punk skater" who will be an asshole to someone who is showing respect.

@IDoSay - I saw your pics in the forums, so I will not hold your affiliation against you either brother.

However, if there are so many professionals (not as many as other sports, granted)... Perhaps they could band together with a little organization and push for the building of some more parks.

Granted, the location (which is everything in Real Estate) would be questionable, but if think about it; there are many lots that are basically not being used for anything but illegal activities. Clear 'em out and give them to the skaters. The skaters I am sure would "police" their own area and drive out the more undesirable elements. At least, so they did not get identified with them.

Again, perhaps more organization then most would be capable of, but you would think those that made their living doing it, would be more interested in contributing to the community that spawned their success... Then again, that could be a delusional approach on my part.

However, I have been treated with disrespect on numerous occasions. I cannot say that my behavior was acceptable in all cases... But I found that by being polite you seemed to piss off the person being rude to a level that seemed unobtainable by resorting to other means.

I remember years ago, being dressed well and wearing some of my old Navy pins and a young punk (dressed like a scumbag-type) walked by me and said, "So how many babies have you killed today, Asshole?"... Considering I was sober, I responded immediately, "None today boy; I usually save that for the Sabbath".

I think he really didn't get it as he had no idea what the Sabbath was...

@Gildorg: I know some skaters donate to make skate parks, but skate parks or not, they will still go to the traditional spots. And on either side, you cannot help if a person is an asshole in general.

And im not even going to get into the shit people have said to me concerning my choice of career I havent been accused of killing babies or civilians yet, but my ex girlfriend, as well as others, have questioned why i want to go somewhere and kill civilians. From my defense of skaters, you can get a good idea of where some of my friends and people i come across stand politically. That shit pisses me off to no end, so i can understand the particular situation you mentioned. Thankfully Americans dont blame the soldiers anymore. The guys car is stopped in the middle of the street, and he has his keys out both when he walks up to them, as well as on the way back to get back into his car. It is possible that it was his neighborhood, but he went out of his way to stop his car and start with them. And unless they were lying, the one guy said the people there were okay with them filming there. But then again, they could be full of shit, and I could be full of shit as well...

As far as youre speculation, I find it difficult to play devils advocate and present a rebuttal. He very well could have been the landlord or something.

And that is a pretty good ledge, so who knows how many have skated it before. Enough people for what looks like a group of sponsored skaters followed by a film crew and photographers to pick it as a site, that much can be seen.
