This video actually, I'm pretty sure, was taken on the island of Saipan in the mid-pacific where I lived for a few years. It's been a Commonwealth of the U.S. since WWII and they have memorials at the top of two cliffs, named Banzai and Suicide. It's an amazing view from the top and even more amazing that so many jumped from there fearing what they thought, or were told, American soldiers would do to them and their families. Oh, and if you scuba I DEFINITELY recommend going to Saipan and diving the Grotto. It'll rock your socks.

@ NUIYZ.... I realize what it took to end that war. I've read plenty on WW2 and am fully aware of the atrocities by the Japanese and the Germans. I'm proud to tell you that my grandfather fought in that war as a gunner. I just think it's a waste of energy to violently hate a country for something that happened generations ago. By no means am I excusing them. If anything, I pity them because they have to live with the shame of what they did. jmo.

NUIYZ brings up some good points. I don't think we're quite "all square" yet with Japan. I'm not saying we should still hate them, that would be silly, but we should at least be able to remember what they did without having to justify anything about it.

@nuiyz&human i'm with you guys, japan should continue to be denied a permanent voice in any world forum as long is it continues to deny/whitewash facts from history. as long as school textbooks here continue to say that japan was forced into war, that manchuria was an 'incident', that japan was in manchuria because 'it had interests there', that it wanted to surrender before the nukes but was ignored, that it did not use chemical or biological weapons in the war, and while convicted war criminals continue to be enshrined as heroes, theworld will not be square with japan and rightly so. it should be forced to accept the true facts of history and forced to teach its children as such to ensure no further ignorant generations are raised.
